The project functions as a speculative story of urban living, deriving its sensibilities from existing urban flows and patterns in Mexicantown, MI. It is conceived as a 'white box' design, intentionally minimalistic to allow for adaptability and transformation. All proposals and narratives for this assignment are required to root their development at the intersection of three infrastructural systems: residential (multi-family housing), commercial (speculative retail development), and environmental (green/blue/gray infrastructures).
The project examines the deindustrialization and history of Detroit suburbs, which are divided by an industrial district that runs down to the Detroit River.
